Where to go now?

It feels very strange to be writing this journal entry, given that I haven't been here since high school. Is anyone even around anymore?
I don't know what to do with this page. I shall probably leave it up, since it's a nice memory of the happier times in high school, but nevertheless... It reeks of chapter of my life I've essentially closed. I'm not even sure if I have anything left to contribute. The realisation that I didn't want to become a "proper" artist and make a living from my craft lead me to stop painting, and I don't know when I shall start again. I never had a chance to seriously study art and refine my raw skills in high school... I'm now a student at Bennington College, a highly creative institution where I can take anything I want, but I've not yet had time to study art the way I planned. I've currently overwhelmed myself with literature and theatre classes because those two disciplines have always been my first priority. So I dunno what to do here.
In the meantime I think I'll update my info and relegate a few things to the scraps section, and see if I don't have some little inspiration left somewhere.

Yes: I'm back.
I've been on a long hiatus and have no clue when I will return in earnest. I haven't painted on a regular basis in some time: I've rather lost my confidence, to be honest. Plus, all this college prep nonsense has been taking up a considerable amount of my time.
I am, however, working on several new projects, and will be able to post the porjects done in my abscence ASAP. I can't wait to get involved again. Make sure you leave me lots of comments, 'cause damnitt, I missed you all!
Much has transpired since I last wrote to you.
~ I've visited about 5 colleges and am becoming more certain of what I want to do with my life.
~ I've begun the process of becoming an official member of the Somerville Commission for Women and have helped implement 2 projects for young women in my community.
~ I've been appointed as the student director for next year's submission to Dramafest.
~ I have become completely addicted to Ebay. I REALLY need to stop buying dumb things, like Victorian chokers and My Little Ponies and erotic vampire books. O.o()
~ Speaking of vampires, I've also become completely addicted to The Vampire Chronicles, despite the fact that Mater Gloriosa is a complete egomaniac who is often untrue to her own characters, is not mature enough to handle legitimate fan criticism, and legally stops people from writing VC fan fic. What, is she afraid people are going to write her characters better than she can? The woman is a douche, truly. But, I'm a TOTAL sucker (HA) for gorgeous, foppish vampires who wear frock coats and fall madly in love with the first attractive thing to cross their paths, soooo I am hooked. Miss Rice does homoerotica exceedingly well, I will give her that...
~ Got myself a LJ! Because I'm a download whore. Those LJ communities are fab.
~ My book collection has grown to such a size that I've lost count after 350. I've actually had to weed out a few, and by a few I mean a computer box- full. They were basically just books I bought at a used sale for 1 or 2 dollars and will never get around to reading, dumb books that other people have bought for me, or books that otherwise diminish the overall impressiveness of my collection. This weeding out has made it much easier to compile my List of Books to Haul to College. Next on my Book agenda is to finish my new, improved inventory....
~ Speaking of books, my Froud book collection is almost complete! This summer I FINALLY bought The Land of Froud! It's in superb condition and I only had to pay $25. In-fucking-credible; a major coup for me as a Froud collector.

Careening, careening.

It's been quite a while, no? I've been ridiculously busy this month, so I had to go on a wee little hiatus. I missed almost a week of school, too, so I had a ton of work to make up. I STILL have to make up a few things.
(Oh well. There was no way I was going to school: In the middle of a cold, I somehow infected my lips, and they became covered, COVERED in fever blisters. I didn't even want to leave my room, it was HORRIBLE. Yuck.)
So anyway
Much has transpired, my lovelies!
Dramafest was fucking incredible this year. We got snubbed by the judges again, but it was only because they preferred dramas and we performed an outrageous comedy. Seriously, the dramatic shows got ALL the awards and the comedies were given hardly any. But it's okay! The fact that we had such an amazing, fabulous day made up for it. I met so many great people! I hooked up wth some very cool chicks, too. Lots of socializing, lots of partying, lots of theatre, it was FAB! Tee hee!
Big news: I joined my town's Women's Comission for my mandatory volunteering shite this year, and the chairwoman asked me to design some advertisments for them (posters, postcards and flyers)! My art is going to be all over the city! HUZZAH! I'm also going to personally organize several different summer programs for young women. I'll probably be able to get a job there after my service hours are up. I'm really lucky to be doing such involved work at my age, or at least I think so.
Speaking of art, our latest project in art class is really cool: the assigment is to pick a favourite song and design album art for it, using all the lyrics of the song. I picked "Magdalena" by APC, which is by far the most beautiful song about a stripper that there is. I hope I can get away with it. XD
Ooh, my art all-state interview is this afternoon. 3 hours from now. We're required to bring a piece to the interview, so I painted a blue "inspiration faery" on canvas. I'll try to have a picture up soon. There will definitely be more on the way, since I've become addicted to painting on canvas. Oh, and addicted to gouache, too. I've decided that they'll be perfect for my CD project.
I've also become addicted to Queer as Folk over my little hiatus. That show is fucking HOT. I managed to download and watch every episode. o.o The picture quality is a bit BLAH but they'll do more than tide me over until I buy the DVDs.

That reminds me: I finally bought the Suicide Girls book, and it's gorgeous! *hugs book*
Last week I had the National Latin Exam, which didn't go too spectacularly, nor too dismally, AND the new SATs. *falls over*. I was there for FIVE FUCKING HOURS, my mates, FIVE HOURS. *falls over again* That test is so exhausting. I found the English and grammar portions incredibly easy, but I probably bombed the maths. Most of the time I didn't even know what they were asking me! Plus, you're only allowed 25 minutes for most of the sections, so it's not like I had time to THINK about anything. Oh well. I'm a child of Bohemia, darling, I don't NEED maths. Maths can go sodomize itself. And what about the infamous essay portion, you ask? We read sample essays in class, and we were all really surprised at how basic they were. "I'd NEVER pass in ANYTHING like THAT," we all sneered at the essay rated 6. Heh. Well, we all underestimated how difficult it would be to write at a high level in 25 minutes. I was pretty dissatisfied with mine, but I probably scored at least a 4, and I can take the test again.
Ahhh, spring is finally on its way. This has been an preternaturally long winter, and I cannot wait to see the last of it. I sense the distinct stirrings of spring in the air, but it's still rather dreary and snowy...
There's a lot more going on, but I think I shall end here. Almost time for Social Justice class. Must go.
But before I do, I'd like to opine in the strongest possible terms that BUSH IS A FUCKING BASTARD AND A DISGRACE FOR DIGGING UP ALASKA.

'Morning, all. *giant yawn*
So, midterms went well. I ACTUALLY scored an A- on my LATIN exam. HOLY FUCK- ARSE- SHITE.
Grades are good; made honors again.
As of now, darlings, little, liberal Massachusetts is buried in snow and overcast with ice. I had *four* snow days last week, after a three day weekend. It was like a mini vacation! Huzzah for the art of couch potato-ing. (Okay, so it wasn't really four snow days; I decided to bugger off and not go on Thursday. Same thing.)
In light of all that liesure time, I had extra time to finish my self portrait for art all-state. I should have the latter, as well as 3 or 4 older pieces, uploaded by the end of this week. I'm painting another piece for art all-state: a new "Inspiration Faery" on canvas. 'Twill be along in time.
I thought my return to school last Friday would be horrid, but it turned out to be a much better day than I expected. Ms. Ricci (my English teacher) is nominating me for an Achievements in Writing Award!
WOW. I'm surprised. Delighted, but surprised. Oh, and I got a B- on that essay, which I thought for sure I failed. She said my grade would have been much better if I had quotes. I don't believe she took that much off for quotes, but whatever. At least my ideas were innovative, solid, and well- discussed. That's all *I* care about; fuck quotes.
Weekend was boring. I'm glad the snow graced us with school cancellations, but there's so damned much of it that going out is impossible. I can't go to Davis or Harvard Sq. because it's too cold to walk or take the train and there's no place to park. No one can really come round because of the crappy driving conditions. Poop.
At least I have plenty (and I do mean plenty) of videos from the library to keep me entertained. Nevertheless, I hope to go to searching for tha Suicide Girls book soon. Prospective- pervy- purchase #2.
However, I did manage to snag myself some new My Little Ponies this weekend. Tee hee! For all my sophistication, I'm obsessed with those dumb little things. I've loved 'em since I was a little girl and haven't gotten over it I guess. Oh well. Fuck you. They're adorable.

It's disguised as a lipstick and requires one AA battery. You guess what it's for. FABulous.
... Does anyone else find it funny that my conversation digressed from My Little Pony to sex toys? Ha. Little- girl toys and big- girl toys. I am paradox made flesh.

No surprise there.
The second quarter is officially over. If I fail to make the honor roll, I'll kill myself. I think I did all right this term... The only weak spot I can think of is English, of all subjects! I probably did fine, but I can't remember any of my test grades, so I'm freaking out a lil'. Wow, I've never lacked confidence in an English class, ever in my entire life. Furthermore, I never expected that I should be doing better in Latin than in English! I blame it entirely on Ricci. I probably bombed that in- class essay. I used NO quotes, and I'm pretty sure I didn't use enough examples from the story to back up my ideas. Oh well. At least I'm not the only one who probably bombed it. I can't have done THAT badly; at least I actually finished it. Last time we had an in- class essay, I didn't even finish it, and she still gave me a B.
Midterms start tomorrow, but I'm not nervous, although I probably SHOULD be. I'm trying to keep relaxed about the whole thing...

I have some exciting news, my lovelies! My art teacher nominated me for Art All- State! If the panel accepts me into the program, I'll get to work with 140 other high school art students on an exhibit for a local museum. Huzzah! I feel special. Even if I don't make it, the nomination will still look good on my college transcript.
I have to pick out 2 of my pieces to show, and paint a self- portrait. I have the basic sketch done, but I'm sort of afraid to start painting it. I've decided to paint entirely in violets. (I'm making no effort at realism, because, frankly, I think realism is boring and over- rated.)
So, the $75 from Andranik is GONE! LoL I gave $20 to my mother, so I'll get that back soon... I did go to Barnes & Noble with Erin last week, but unfortunately, I didn't find the SuicideGirls book.
However, I finally bought myself a Dorothy Parker book! I'm very pleased about that.
I'm off. I'm very busy doing nothing.
